Yes. The app does work if the phone is in battery save mode. The problem is that the operating system can decide at any time to shut down the app, therefore we do not recommend it. Besides this, while in battery save mode the operating system can (but doesn't necessarily mean it will in every case):
- Allow a lower frequency of GPS readings. This will lead to fewer data points which will lead to inaccurate trip recognition.
- Turn off the WiFi - This influences trip recognition.
Because of the above-mentioned points, the tracking algorithm can flag the trips as low accuracy therefore not displaying the trip in the feed.
Also, the app could be shut down by the operating system much sooner than in other cases, especially if the users do not open the app.
Please be advised that the battery save mode has different behavior for every phone manufacturer.
