Phone settings for Samsung mobile devices

If you own a Samsung, check for the Android version you are using and follow the installation settings below accordingly.

If the Smart Manager app is installed on the Samsung device

Newer devices from the Samsung Galaxy S6 are equipped with the Smart Manager app. Older devices can also use Smart Manager after the software update.

When the Smart Manager is installed on a mobile, the user must set the following:

  1. Open the Smart Manager app on the Samsung phone.
  2. Go to the Battery section. 
  3. Under App optimization, tap Details. 
  4. Select our app in the list. A menu appears.
  5. Select the "Disabled for" option here.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 also for the 'Google Play services' app, if it is in the list.


If Android 9 is installed on the Samsung device

Check the following settings if there are problems that measurement is not (correct):

  1. Go to Phone Settings > Apps > find our app in the list > choose Permissions > turn Location ON.
  2. Go to your Phone Settings > Google > Location > turn Location ON. Select Improve accuracy, turn Wi-Fi scanning ON.
  3. Go to Phone Settings > Device Maintenance and at the top click on the button with the 3 vertical dots. A menu appears, select the "Advanced" option and set the following: Turn OFF Automatic optimization and turn ON Automatic restart. 
  4. Go to Phone Settings > Device maintenance > Battery > Power mode > select "High performance". This will turn OFF the Adaptive power saving and also turn OFF Limit Data Background.
  5. Go to Phone Settings > Device Maintenance > Battery and tap button on top right with 3 vertical dots. A menu appears, select the option:
    - Adaptive battery: Turn OFF
    - Put unused apps to sleep: Turn OFF
    - Sleeping apps: Here our app may NOT be selected. If the app 'Google Play services' is in the list, then it may also NOT be selected.
    - Unused apps autom. off: Turn OFF
    - Optimize settings: Turn OFF
  6. Go to Settings > Device Maintenance > Memory and tap button with the 3 vertical dots in the upper right corner. In the list of apps that are not being checked, add our app. Also add 'Google Play services'.

 

If Android 10 is installed on the Samsung device

Check the following settings if there are problems that measurement is not (correct):

  1. Go to Phone Settings and search for the keywords below by clicking on the magnifying glass at the top right:
    Search for the keyword 'Location', and under 'Improve precision', make sure that both options 'Scan via Wi-Fi' and 'Scan via Bluetooth' are ON.
    In addition, 'Google Location Accuracy' must be ON.
    And check under 'App permissions' whether our app is in the list with 'ALWAYS ALLOWED'.
  2. Search for the keyword 'Optimi' and select 'Optimise battery usage' and find our app in the list of apps, and turn optimization OFF.
  3. Search for the keyword "Power mode" and select "Battery". Under 'Power mode', choose 'Optimized' and turn 'Adaptive power saving' OFF.
    Under 'App power management ' select the option 'Adaptive battery' and turn it OFF, also turn OFF the option 'Put unused apps to sleep'.
  4. Search for the keyword "Memory" and select "Select apps to exclude'. Choose the option 'Add apps' and select our app to add it.


If these instructions did not help to improve the measurement, check the more detailed instructions below:

  1. Go to Phone Settings > Privacy > Permission manager > Location > choose our app from the list > set Location access to "Allow all the time".
  2. Go to Phone Settings > Privacy > Permission manager > Location > Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning > Turn Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning ON
    Or:
    Go to Phone Settings > Location > Improve precision > Turn Scan via WI-FI and Scan via Bluetooth ON.
  3. Go to Phone Settings > Location > Google Location Accuracy > Turn Improve Location Accuracy ON.
  4. Go to Phone Settings > Apps > select three dots menu (top right corner) > select Special access > choose Optimize battery usage > tap the drop-down arrow at the top and select “All apps” > find our app in the list and turn the optimization OFF.
  5. Go to Phone Settings > Apps > select our app from the list > choose Battery > turn (if possible) Allow background activity ON.
  6. Go to Phone Settings > Device care > tap button with the 3 vertical dots in the upper right corner. Select "Advanced" in the menu and set:
    - Auto optimization: turn OFF
    - Autom. restart: turn OFF
    - Optimize settings: turn OFF
  7. Go to Phone Settings > Device care > Battery > Battery usage > find our app and turn OFF switch "Put app to sleep".
  8. Swipe down from the top of the screen to reveal Quick settings > click on Power mode > turn it OFF (gray).
  9. If applicable: Go to Phone Settings > Device care > Battery > Power mode and select:
    - Power mode: preferably "High performance" or else "Optimized".
    - Adaptive power saving: turn OFF
  10. If applicable: Go to Phone Settings > Device care > Battery > tap button on top right with the 3 vertical dots. Choose Phone Settings > turn OFF all options (except Notifications). Click on Sleeping apps option and remove our app (or all apps) from the list.
  11. Go to Phone Settings > Device care > Battery > App power management and set:
    - Adaptive battery: turn OFF
    - Put unused apps to sleep: turn OFF
    - Sleeping apps: Remove our app from this list.
    - Apps that won't be put to sleep: If possible, add our app to this list.
  12. Go to Phone Settings > Device care > Memory and set:
    - Select apps to exclude: select our app.

If Android 11  is installed on the Samsung device

We assume that you have given all the requested permissions to the app when you log in. In addition, it is necessary to check the following settings on Samsung devices:

  1. Go to Phone Settings and search for the keywords below by clicking on the magnifying glass at the top right.
    Search for the keyword 'Location', and under 'Improve precision', make sure that both options 'Scan via Wi-Fi' and 'Scan via Bluetooth' are ON.
    In addition, 'Google Location Accuracy' must be ON.
    And check under 'App permissions' whether our app is in the list with 'ALWAYS ALLOWED'. Usually this is already so, but this is a double check.
  2. Search for the keyword 'Optimi' and select 'Optimise battery usage' and find our app in the list of apps, and turn optimization OFF.
  3. Go to Phone Settings > Battery and device care > select (⁝) menu > Automation > perform the following steps:
    - Auto optimise daily: turn OFF
    - Auto restart at set times: turn OFF
    - Adaptive power saving: turn OFF
  4. Search for the keyword ‘Battery’ and select ‘Battery’ under ‘Battery and device care’. Turn OFF 'Power saving mode'.
    Under ‘More battery settings’, select and turn OFF ‘Adaptive battery’. 
  5. Search for keyword 'sleep’ and select 'Sleeping apps’ (or 'Background usage limits'). Turn OFF 'Put unused apps to sleep’.
  6. Search for the keyword 'Memory' and select 'Excluded apps'. Click on the plus sign in the top right corner and select our app to add it.
  7. Go to Phone Settings > choose our app > complete the following steps::
    - Go to Permissions > turn OFF “Remove permissions if an app isn’t used”
    - Go to 'Mobile data' > turn ON 'Allow background data usage'. 


If Android 12  is installed on the Samsung device

We assume that you have given all the requested permissions to the app when you log in. In addition, it is necessary to check the following settings on Samsung devices:

  1. Go to Phone Settings and search for the keywords below by clicking the magnifying glass at the top right.
    Search by keyword 'Location':
    - Select 'Location services' > Location services > Google Location Accuracy > turn ON 'Improve Location Accuracy'.
  2. Search for the keyword 'Battery' and select 'Battery' under 'Battery and device care'. Turn Power saving OFF.
  3. Go to Phone Settings > Apps > choose our app > Permissions:
    - choose Physical activity > select "Allow"
    - choose Location > select "Allow all the time" AND turn ON “Use precise location”.
  4. Go to Phone Settings > Apps > choose our app > Battery > choose 'Unrestricted'.

  1. Go to Phone Settings > Battery and device care > select (⁝) menu > Automation > perform the following steps:
    - Auto optimise daily: turn OFF
    - Auto restart at set times: turn OFF
    - Adaptive power saving: turn OFF
  2. Search for the keyword 'Battery' and select 'Battery' under 'Battery and device care'. Perform the next step:
    - Go to 'More battery settings' > turn OFF 'Adaptive battery'
  3. Search for the keyword "Memory" and select 'Excluded apps'. Click on the + sign at the top right > select our app > click on 'Add'.
  4. Go to Phone Settings > Apps > choose our app > complete the following steps:
    - Remove permission if app is unused: turn OFF
    - Go to 'Permissions' > turn OFF 'Remove permissions and free up space'
    - Go to 'Mobile data' > turn ON 'Allow background data usage'. 

If Android 13 is installed on the Samsung device

We assume that you have given all the requested permissions to the app when you log in. In addition, it is necessary to check the following settings on Samsung devices:

  1. Go to Phone Settings and search for the keywords below by clicking the magnifying glass at the top right.
    Search by keyword 'Location':
    - Select 'Location services' > Location services > Google Location Accuracy > turn ON 'Improve Location Accuracy'.
  2. Search for the keyword 'Battery' and select 'Battery' under 'Battery and device care'. Turn Power saving OFF.
  3. Go to Phone Settings > Apps > choose our app > Permissions:
    - choose Physical activity > select "Allow"
    - choose Location > select "Allow all the time" AND turn ON “Use precise location”.
  4. Go to Phone Settings > Apps > choose our app > Battery > choose 'Unrestricted'.

  1. Go to Phone Settings > Battery and device care > Auto optimisation > turn OFF Restart when needed.
  2. Search for the keyword 'Battery' and select 'Battery' under 'Battery and device care'. Perform the next step:
    - Go to 'More battery settings' > turn OFF 'Adaptive battery'
  3. Search for the keyword "Memory" and select 'Excluded apps'. Click on the + sign at the top right > select our app > click on 'Add'.
  4. Go to Phone Settings > Apps > choose our app > complete the following steps:
    - Remove permission if app is unused: turn OFF
    - Go to 'Permissions' > turn OFF 'Pause app activity if unused'
    - Go to 'Mobile data' > turn ON 'Allow background data usage'. 


If Android 14 is installed on the Samsung device

We assume that you have given all requested permissions when logging into the app. In addition, it is necessary to check the following settings on Samsung devices.

  1. Go to Phone Settings and search for the keywords below by clicking the magnifying glass at the top right.
    Search for the keyword 'Location':
    - Select 'Location services' > Location services > Google Location Accuracy > turn ON 'Improve Location Accuracy'.
  2. Go to Phone Settings > Battery > turn Power saving OFF.
  3. Go to Phone settings > Apps > choose our app > Permissions:
    - choose Physical activity > select "Allow"
    - choose Location > select “Allow all the time” AND turn ON “Use precise location”.
  4. Go to Phone settings > Apps > choose our app > Battery > choose 'Unrestriced'.


If these instructions did not help to improve the measurement, check the more detailed instructions below:

  1. Go to Phone settings > Device care > Auto optimisation > Auto restart > turn OFF the options 'Restart when needed' and 'Restart on schedule'.
  2. Search for the keyword 'Adaptive battery' and select 'Adaptive battery' under 'Battery'. Turn this setting OFF.
  3. Go to Phone settings > Battery > Power saving > turn OFF 'Limit apps and Home screen'.
  4. Search for the keyword 'Memory' and select 'Memory' under 'Device care'. Complete the following step:
    - Go to 'Excluded apps' > click the + sign at the top right > select our app > click 'Add'.
  5. Go to Phone settings > Apps > choose our app > follow these steps:
    - Remove permissions if app is unused: Turn OFF
    - Go to 'Permissions' > turn OFF 'Pause app activity if unused'
    - Go to 'Mobile data' > turn ON 'Allow background data usage'.
  6. Click on the 'Recent apps' button (bottom button with 3 vertical lines) > select our app > click on the icon of our app at the top to see the menu options > choose 'Lock this app'.
    A lock will now appear at the bottom of the app. The app is now locked.
